All of your identifying information is held in strict confidence. We do not resell any information (contact or otherwise) to ANY third party, under any circumstances. This includes any information provided in person, over the phone, or via email.
Our tutors vary, but all have at least a bachelor’s degree. Some hold higher degrees, including some who have held faculty positions at various universities. Each has extensive tutoring experience and recommendations/references. In order to ensure your safety and the safety of your children, we also conduct a detailed and thorough background check.
Ascent vets all of its tutors through a rigorous tryout process. In addition to requiring college and graduate transcripts, we also require standardized test scores and a specialized exam specific to the subject they plan to tutor. We also interview each potential tutor to ensure that they are personable, friendly, speak English clearly and fluently, and are effective at conveying information.
As mentioned above, we require a one-lesson refundable deposit for untimely cancellations. We also require communication in case of a change in lesson time or length. Payments are to be made directly to Ascent Tutors.

Payment is by credit card. We keep an encrypted version of your card on file and charge in advance for the block of time you request.
No, there are no registration fees. However, there is a refundable deposit necessary to secure an initial appointment with your tutor. The deposit will be refunded once you complete your tutoring – alternately, you can use it to pay for your last tutoring session. If lessons are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, the deposit will be used to pay the tutor for their time.

To cancel a lesson, you can contact us directly at 800-715-1112. Alternately, if it is a weekday and more than 24 hours notice, you may cancel directly with your tutor or your assigned education specialist.

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you contact your tutor to cancel with less than 24 hours of notice, you will be charged for the lesson in full.
Yes. Your tutor will not change unless you request a new one.
Lessons take place in the student’s home, but can be arranged to take place at libraries or coffee shops when appropriate.
Lessons vary, but we find that sessions shorter than one hour are not productive for the student. Most of our students prefer increments of one hour, but if you would like, we can work with you to provide longer tutoring sessions
While most of our students have one weekly appointment, if you would like more intensive tutoring we are happy to arrange this.
You may have an introductory lesson and if you are unhappy with your teacher, you may have more single lessons with a new teacher until you feel comfortable with your teacher.
We offer SAT and ACT test Prep. We offer sciences such as biology, chemistry, physics and all levels of Math up until 12th grade. We also offer English tutoring in reading comprehension and writing.
